New construction home,5 years young. The home is a ranch. It is on a basement. The main living areas are all vaulted ceilings.I am not positive but I believe the rafters are 2x12.The insulation is R30 with proper vent baffles installed the entire length. There is soffit vent/ridge vent. There are a total of 22 recessed lights in the cathedral areas. The cans are insulated,I don't know the manufacturer. The cans are condensing when not in use. Some drip on the hardwood and all stain the sheetrock ceiling. The insulating contractor insulated around the cans.
My buddy built the home and is stumped as to what to do to fix it.He doesn't want to start fixing until the answer is a "sure thing".
suggestions please?
TIA,
cheese

It's air movement
and fiberglass insulation won't stop it.
If the cans are not plenim type, he can build boxes around them with high-R sheathing and seal them up better. IMPORTANT!!! If they are not plenim style, he must make sure the boxes allow enough room for air circulation!
Every recessed light is a chimney.
Hope this helps.
