The Vitodens + DIY radiant.............hb

These are great clients to work with. They really wanted to have a Vitodens, but working within a budget it was not possible to have us do both the radiant and the mechanicals. They (husband and wife) would put their 6 mos. daughter in the playpen right next to where the worked and proceeded to install every foot of tube and extruded plate in their home. 3,200+' of plates and 6,000' of 3/8", 1/2" and 5/8" Wirsbo hePEX. By working with me they were able to have their Vitodens plus radiant. There will also be a duct coil in the 2nd floor air handler to take care of the bedroom heat.
He's happy and we're happy. He saved quite a few thousand dollars and we got a chance to install this.

Great looking work
I have been looking for a SKU # and manufacturer for the type of wiring gutter you use. Can you give me the model # and where you have been buying it?

LWCO
Jeff, are you using a flow switch or LWCO? (BTW, super job!!)

Excellent
as usual!
What did you do to the LLH?
Our first Vitodens sold our second Vitodens. That job will be starting next month.
We are currently working on another project where the homeowner wanted to do as much work possible himself. Not for money reasons, but more for self gratification. No problem here.
We will be installing the boiler and essentials while he will do all of the tubing installation. Works out well for both of us.
Very nice HB.

Interesting location
For the LWCO. The state inspector in these parts would shoot it down though. He won't accept an LWCO in a horizontal pipe. Has to be vetical to eliminate the possibilty of a puddle of water maintaining contact. Also, he says he has seen debris build up in a horizontal location like that and maintain contact even when the pipe is dry. To me, the odds on that are very, very small. JFYI.
Looks flawless as usual Jeff. Nice job is an understatement.
BTW, Viessmann makes a nice silver metal tech lit box you can buy for about 10 bucks. P/N 7334 5020 -

I'm wetting my pants.......had to come back for a 3rd look
If I had the time, that's what I would like to have done with the radiant in my house...oh well someone else's house will have to be the recipient. You really should enter that job in a contest with RPA. "Best Homeowner-Contractor Collabrative effort...." Mad Dog

Those who can do............
and those who can't........inspect. There is absolutely no chance of puddling water the way it is done here, Steve. The probe is half way up the fitting. It could be installed just as easily on the vertical pipe, except this is in a higher local. It is wired in series with the incoming 120 VAC line from the disconnect to the power module, so it shuts down the entire system, pumps and all.
