Make sure they are rated for the temperature of your system. Brass seated ones are for high temperatures, but can chatter and drive everybody nuts.
Teflon or neoprene seated checks make less noise, but selection for temperature rating becomes more critical.

We use the spring checks on both horizontal and vertical piping. We used to use swing checks and flow checks and had problems.
