I also welcome all to the grandest day of the year

All are welcome on this fine day. St. Pats day is a day to celebrate with good friends, whether they are Irish or not.
My only requirement is they have a good time and since I am older do it carefully.

A little known fact is that, Danny Boy, a famous Irish tune was written by an Englishman.

Also if you listen closely to the words, the song has added meaning these days with so many Americans now in harms way.

So lets all remember those who are absent from our country on this day of friendship celebrated.

    Happy St. Paddy's Day!

Folks, here's a couple of funnies to lighten your load...got your green on?

One thing about the Irish...we can certainly laugh. Especially at ourselves :-)

    Went to a party over the weekend at the Healys, and the invitation was a saying I haven't heard;

"May your cottage never be large enough to hold all of your friends" Amen to that!

    Take Care, PJO

    How green is my...

satellite t.v. service? Not green at all - no classic Irish movies listed all week (with what, 700 channels?)!

video store? Nope, unless you call "The Crying Game" a classic (no comment).

Had to go to the children's section of the Library just to borrow an old beat-up "Darby O'Gill" (then things were grand again)!

Why does Guinness taste soooooooo much better from the can?

Enjoy whatever you look forward to this day!

    La Fheile Padraig

Amusing movies (in no order) if you liked Ned Devine:

    1. The Commitments
    2. The Snapper
    3. The Van
These first three are set in Dublin, from Roddy Doyle novels, loosely (very loosely) connected. Everyone is on the dole....

    4. Brassed Off (set in Wales - during Maggie days)
    5. An Everlasting Piece (set in Belfast or maybe Derry)
    6. The Full Monty (British, but good union men all)
    7. The Playboys (?) (back to rural Ireland, circa 1950's)
    8. American Girls (?) (rural Ireland, but more or less today)
    9. War of the Buttons (contemporary Ireland)

This last isn't a comedy. A good flick. Meryl Streep & various other strong women....
    10. Dancing at Lugnasa

Of course, now all Ireland is rich & driving Mercs and Beemers....

    Slan go foill!
