Ultra-Fin Radiant

Has anyone had experience with Ultra-Fin high temp radiant heating systems? 1/2" PEX tube run through joist bays, aluminum fin convectors, water temp 150 to 180, heats air in joist bay which warms the floor. Supposed be great on wood floor jobs. Thanks, Krobe.

    My opinion.......

is that radiant and high temps. don't mix.....
get extruded alum. plates, snap the tubing into them and go low temp., much more eff., better for the floor.
Run it all with a low temp. lovin' mod. condensing boiler.

    Agreed
  • It has it's place in the radiant world

I've used them a couple of times in series with baseboard fin/tube emitters on remodels in bathroom/kitchen floors. Cut in a monoflow & regular tee and a PAP'in-and-a- riviting you go. Works a WHOLE lot better than suspended bare tube. More surface area. Remember it's a convective oven your making of the joist cavity. Insulate accordingly.

I'm not so sure it's the right application for wood floors though. Lower temperature systems are allways a better choice over Hi temp. Depends on application. I say they have their benefits.

    Ultra/Fin good? Yup. Sometimes.
