Would a frozen boiler do this ?

This was what it looked like before we started . Nope , we didn't pull the coil out like that for the Mungo . I'm pretty sure it was ice that popped the coil out and exploded the flowvalve . I don't think it dry fired because there was about 4 gallons of water left in the boiler . There were a few leaks in the baseboard the homeowner was going to fix himself . Nice little one zone - something we don't see too often anymore .

Ya ice will do a number on the cast iron. Did you see the photos I posted of the cast iron radiators that popped ?

Its so nice to see the before work and then your nice neat work.

Hope your getting to Baltimore early enough to meet JCA and myself for some cold ones :)

Which heading was it under ? I want to look it up . I'm on the bus to Burnham so hopefully I'll roll in right before it leaves . When are you and Chris getting in ? Maybe we all will get lucky and sit near Murph and his 24 pack belt brew holster . Thanks Scott .

    Any freeze on that puppy,

Was only the "post result" of a leaking gasket or an "electrolysis"problem. Those bolts look like they are still in the appropriate holes, but the heads got wasted away from them , due to another problem , like a leaking/rotted flange gasket, or maybe an electrical problem. ( I STILL remember an article by the Firedragon, titled "It's the green wire dummy". , but can't seem to find it.

Nice install ! I have to agree with Scott. You ARE the master of the "tight quarters install". BAR NONE!

We will be getting into Baltimore around 5:15 on Fri., so I figure we'll get to the hotel around 6:30/7:00.

I have to say that yesterday I was feeling kind of down about the upcoming meeting of the mindless. Scott put the fire "back" into my thoughts. I'm now looking forward to it more than ever. I guess I just "needed a push in the right direction".

It's been a LONG winter! Sometimes I get the feeling that I'm getting burnt out. A couple of neat jobs and a "realization" that I do something that most people think is WAY over their head, difficult to understand yet so necessary, get me right back on track. See ya at Wetstock IV.

Thanks to all you Wallies for giving me the inspiration!!!!
    Chris
