Can Kerosine be used in place of #2 fuel oil? If so what are pros and cons? Thanks for the help!!

yes providing
the fuel pump is rated for Kerosene. Not all pumps are.
I have seen trouble where conmbustion tests were performed on the unit burning kerosene. Then the weather warmed up and they switched to #2 boiler plugged up . Not enough air . Wouldn't think it would make a differnce but it did.
That being said millions of folks in tin condo's (mobily homes) change and mix fuel types all year long and it doesn't bother them. Of course trailer furnaces aren't as tight as a boiler.
Regards.

Works great
Like Robert said, if you stick with Kero year around it shouldn't be a problem.
I've got a brand 'B' burner on my furnace and a brand 'C' burner on my h2o tank, neither have ever seen anything but #1 (which is called Kero in my neck of the woods).
The brand 'B' burner has been in for around 20 years now and the combustion chamber has never, ever seen a vac, clean as a whistle, replaced the pump once.
The brand 'C' burner has been heating water for around 12 years now, I haven't even changed the nozzle in probably 6 years. I get the same combustion test numbers now that I did 6 years ago. Honestly, with all the variability of nozzles, I'm afraid I'd replace it and then end up having a problem!!
Never have to worry about gelling, don't mind getting it on myself when I change filters, no crud in the tanks, just one less thing to worry about.
The ONLY downside I see is paying a couple hundred bucks more a year for fuel, but the way I see it, the less I have to service my own equipment, the more time I have to service someone elses equipment so in the long run, it's probably a wash.0
