W/M CGi Cycling

I installed a small CGi-5 P/S 4 Zone (2) Radiant w/indirect about two & a half years ago. The customer voiced concern about boiler cycling intermittently. Fan goes on for 5 seconds then shuts off, then continues to try until it fires after about 30 seconds. (this ALLWAYS GOES 6 times) and it's never given him a no heat situation. I checked the pressure switch with a reliable inclined manometer OK. Got another call, my #1 guy went out on it and he changed the pressure switch & the hoses OK. Now I just got back from there the pressure switch is GOOD(The old ones good too, by the way) The hoses are GOOD. The fan checked out GOOD. checked the grounds GOOD. Chimney GOOD> Get this, it only happens after 7pm (he's an old guy and got nothing better to do than to document the incidents) And it's never done it while I'm there, but, get this, I heard it! This poor guy thinks I think he's nuts and called me just now "Down by the boiler" so I could hear. No BS. Any thoughts?.... I'm too old for this nonsense ..Robert O'Connor/NJ

Robert, have had this problem once or twice. Here's what we found. Could be a bad or loose ground. Those controls are very sensitive to that. Could be a bad control. You said it does it 6 times, every time. At what point is the unit stopping. Using sequence of operation, after proving comes ignition. It may be the ignitor. Is it intermittent pilot or hot surface? Have seen debris on the ignitor or flame prover ground it out and shut down unit.
Food for thought! Coming Thursday night?

Bob, does this have
the United Technology 1107-1 Integrated control on it? If so have the old guy check out the diagnostic lights when it does this. It will help you to figure out what is wrong.
Does this system have a programmable thermostat?0 -

Ground is good. I'm the HEY! "DID YA CHECK THE GROUND" guy. I asked the customer the first time (cause he's ALL kinds of into it) if the lights showed, he says yes, the fan light blinks, which propted the check & replacement of the switch & hoses (did I mention there wasn't anything wrong with either). Gas pressure @ 7" pressure switch @ .90" fan got a few drops of oil. Every time I/we check it works. The thermostates are (2) T-87 HW for the radiant zones (I know pretty primative), and (1)White Rodgers digital heat/cool for a separate monoflow zone to apox. 6 old CI rads. & the cooling. T-stat for the indirect is in the indirect & was not calling (W/M plus 30). It is a 1107-1 Integ. boiler control. Every thing is secure wiring wise. Always 6 times it does it, he says most of the time it (fan) runs for 5 seconds, but sometimes it get in the 15-20 sec. range. How besides switching the IBC will I know if it is that? And finally, This guy has his chair all set up right there, you know the type, but he's cool and I want to do right thing. On the ignition front, the sequence never gets that far along for the ign. to be the problem.. Robert O'Connor/NJ0 -
Bob, on the IBC
where the line voltage feeds in put a jumper between "W" and "G".
What is wired into the six pin "B" (upper right hand) and "B" (lower right hand) terminals? This is usually the thermostat connection. I have had a couple of those that the mated plug was not making good contact. It would do exactly what your unit is doing. Make sure all the wires into that 9 pin mated plug are making contact all the time. You may have to take it out and gently realign the pins to make continous contact.0
