    Our Commercial division makes them...

Part number is 14506873-002, and they work with the T804C photoelectric or the T805C Ionization type smoke detectors. They are designed for commerical fire protection systems, not for home use. Go to http;//hbctechlit.honeywell.com and type in those numbers for a tech sheet. Available from commercial-oriented Honeywell distributors.

They are used on commerical jobs that we work on all the time. I think in NJ they are required on any RTU or air handler 5 tons or larger. I have never seen a residential install but that definately does not mean they are not out there. The commerical models mount to the return and or supply duct depending on spec and have a smoke tube (basically 1/2 emt with holes drilled in it) inserted into the duct work. If smoke is present in the dector it triggers the fire alarm and shuts down the unit.

These are the ones we use http://www.systemsensor.com/pdf/A05-0301.pdf and this page is the full line up of models http://www.systemsensor.com/html/hvac.html

    duct detectors

like previous posters said...they are almost always required in commercial buildings....some commercial air handlers also have fire-stats...these sense high temperature in the duct, and shut fan down when high temp detected...never seen them used in residential..not a bad idea...

    Blower

Dave, the intended use is to shut down the blower upon sensing smoke not just the burner. We usually switch the 24 volts secondary "R" right off the transformer.
