While reading the March issue of Oilheating Magazine came upon the "Conversions are big business" article. A nice multipaged article about a oil company and what a wonderful job they are doing for their customers. And there in the middle of page 14 is a picture of the smiling oil co. staff and the steam boiler with its shine new oilgun and all copper steam piping. Is it that hard to find a system to showcase that is built right.
How do you explain the need to pipe a boiler in blk.iron to a customer, when the oil industry rag is showcasing a copper piped steamer as the shining example of wonderful customer service. Couldn't they have at least painted the pipes black? if they can't find a properly installed boiler in Jersey. So much for New Jersey's licensing and inspection system. I would have posted a link to the article but when I checked the most resent issue available online was the Feb 04. My Rant for today

Steam Boiler in copper?
Although frowned upon, there is nothing illegal with using copper pipe in NJ. Just keep cranking em out with black pipe. You know your doing the right thing, but maybe you can go after the oil guys to set the bar higher. I personally prefer black iron, but can't remember how many were done with copper. Most times it's a job condition or a $$ thing. Don't feel bad though cause at this rate you'll have a bumper crop of repairs to make soon....Robert O'Connor/NJ0 -
at least it
was oil,but yea that part did kind of suck.I like the way to small tee shirt myself0 -
hmmmmmmm
Yeah I saw the article and it got me mad too!!! Until I read further and found it was only a BURNER retrofit, NOT a boiler replacement. Upon reading even further,.....the contractor and ther customer have the SAME last name......hmmmmmmm and they said the customer was so happy he is giving 10 more buildings to this contractor to also change to oil!. Now in the same magazine is a GREAT article from George Lanthier so we cant rag the mag too badly huh..........0 -
Thanks for the compliment Jeff, but
it's the wrong magazine, I now happily write for Fuel Oil News.0 -

We went to York Pa. for the 100th anniversary of Harley-Davidson, they held it at the fairgrounds.while we were there we picked up the program they were giving out at the meet (?) right there in amongst all the HD dealer ads was a story about riding throughout the state and some selected routes, the center-fold was a honda goldwing!! (If you wanted to see the plant tour they would get you there by bus, no motorcycles allowed!!)
