Hello again, Mr. Dan Holohan-

I would very much like to help raise money for finding a cure for breast cancer.....My kid-sister, Judy died from it after 2 1/2 years of chemo. Perhaps $50-75 per unit sold (WaterHotter) would be appropriate. I don't know how this is done, but I'm more than anxious to contribute here. Please let me know. You have all the resources in place to streamline the flow into a cure. If you think this may have some everlasting merit, please respond here or give me a call: 702.327.3189

    Mr. Blumenthal...

Welcome to the Wall. And thank you for doing something for cancer. I've recently lost my mom and my uncle to this terrible disease, and am sure than many more people here have been touched by it. Keep up the good thoughts.

Now, on to techincal points. Tell us more about your heat exchanger. I'm looking at it with an open mind, and a jaundiced eye. It's a winking jaundiced eye if it makes you feel any better....

Tell us more about your inventions. We're ALL ears!

    Interesting Heat Exchanger

I guess the idea is to create a condensing water heater by putting a pre-heater for the incoming water on the flue exhaust? Works well enough for gas heaters... worry a bit about corrosive condensation though. Corrosion only gets worse as you try to apply this technology to oil (higher sulfur content). Don't see how it's applicable to the electric side of things.

Recirculation systems are neat. I'm putting one in as part of our whole-house renovation. However, it'll be a proper 3 pipe system. The spouse and I don't want water from the hot side in our cold water circuits. What do you think of graywater heat recovery equipment? It doesn't seem applicable to a single family home but does hold a lot of promise for larger structures.

    Numbers are unbelievable!

Wow, according to the Population Reference Bureau, the population of the United States was 292 million in 2003. According to Mr. Blumenthal's figures, there are 205 million water heaters wasting fuel out there. We are indeed a spendthrift nation if we have 2 water heaters for every 3 people! Just think when we add the electric heaters and solar heaters to the mix, we must have more than 1 per person. If this is accurate, we are in hot water in more ways than one.

Skeptical as usual, but willing to be set straight. Grumpy
