never seize on retention head?

I,ve got an idea, say a guy has a burner with long blast tube and universal flange on the truck for service calls and needs to change the retension head to fit the application, they can be a **** to get off, how bout a little never seize? Will this screw up the combustion analysys or just burn off shortly after light off? or will the never seize not work at all and the retension will come off hard anyway?

    neverseez

Johnny, I use neverseez on so many parts its disgusting! However I never thought of putting it on a Beckett head! And yes they are a bear to get off the tube! I am game to try it and I dont think after more than 10 minutes of running, the gasses being burned off would show in an analyzer. Could be wrong though,...........I will try it myself on the next Beckett head I cahnge. May be a long time though. I dont do alot of residential boilers. Mostly commercial and industrial. I posted here about McDonnell Miller not using it on their low water cutoffs when they assemble them at the factory. It takes a good 20 minutes to get their gasket off the faces when they have been on the boiler for a year under a steam system. I SWEAR at them every time I do one cause ALL mine get Neverseez on both sides. Takes me less than 5 seconds to remove them the next year when I return! (* Listen UP McD Miller!!!*) Also use it on the bolts too. And on fireside cleanout bolts, muffler clamps and joints, headers, burner mounting bolts, flange bolts, and anything removable that needs it! I hope we find the answer to the Beckett head issue! Take care and be careful. Let us know how and if it works. Thanks and see ya again on "The Wall"

    I second Jeff's reply.

Never seize is a great product to apply to a component you may want to take off at a later date.

Used the stuff years ago on exhaust manifold bolts on 2 cylinder John Deere Tractors. Never had a problem removing the manifold bolts when the previous mechanic used never seize. The oils evaporates or burns off after awhile. The material stays where it is placed. Like the threads on bolts, between cast flanges etc.

Jeff you use the stuff like my Grandpappy would gun grease, grease everything, that way when the farm equipment has to come apart again, the gaskets where good for a second, third, fourth time. When times were hard, the elders knew how to make things last.

The true never seize artist never leaves tracks, yet the components come apart at a later date.

    Do you

use the regular silver stuff OR do you use the copper coloured one which is good -40*F to 2000* F. I personally find the copper impregnated product much better.

I have only used the silver never seize.

One can lasts a long time, you do not need a large quanity, just coat the threads of flanges.

    I enjoy this site.

    Retension Head

I have been using NEVER SEEZE for years on retension heads. It never affected the burner operation at all, i also use it on boiler draw rods. Another good product to use on boiler work is EXPANDO.

    I think

you must be confused ...... That "other gray stuff" is PVC glue. Putting never sieze on those threads WILL HELP you get the lid off! LOL
