I noticed Dan mention in his book, "You get what you pay for". What's the average price for decent air valve and main vent valve? Are ther any web sites that sell air vents that you can recommend?
thanks,
Dave

We all like
Gorton for steam. A few prefer Heat Timer's "Vari-vent"
On a water system, they all are crap - with the possible exception of a spirovent. But then, they are very pricey and are also an air purger - as well as a vent.
Sizing the vents is another aspect that is important. I have never liked the "one size fits all" notion to give the desired results. Gortons have a range of fixed orifice diameters that control the rate of air venting and can help balance almost any steam balance problems.

vents
Sarco makes a nice 3/4" model 13W which works GREAT!!!! Commercial only as it is high capacity and 3/4" male. (Only for water though) NOT steam. We like the Heat Timer vari-valves for radiator vents!0
