Just worked on a boiler on top of abank vault .Supplies heat to two hot water coils upstairs and downstairs air handlers, installers never put airscoop or vents. If I had the room I put it in .Any suggestions Iwas thinking abouy putting airvents in should i put it on the supply or return .They did put purge valves in .

Check the boiler
Some Cast Iron boiler have built in air seperators. To effectively use them you would just put an air vent in the tapping. Check the make and model of the boiler. Find the local distributor and ask for literature if you don't already have.
If not place the air scoop on the supply side of the piping.
Air seperates best when it is hotter.
