    hot water

Jim, worked down in your area for a while. How do you do it?
Seriously, look at tankless gas units. A perfect application for high demand on a limited basis.Churches typically use facililties 1-2 times a week. Storing lots of hot water when not needed simply isn't efficient. Rinnai makes a great tankless unit as do other manufs. How about the heating system? Can you tap that resource?

right now it is set up on a coil with the large steam boiler. coil is corroded and not useable.summer time valves are supposed to be shut off and isolate water heater... no one knows what to do to change it over... i want to give the customer options and let them make thier decision.they also need extensive boiler work, oil tank repiping and pontentialy a 15-20 ton multiple zone a/c system to this 1860 historical church.

    sizing programs

Hello: Rheem and the other manufacturers all have sizing programs that might help you select the right heater. Don't just match what's there as heaters are often oversized. I'd check out the equipment in place and determine the maximum flow needed to see if tankless is an option. If you do use a tank type heater, hook it up with side plumbing so you have easy access to the top to change anodes and keep it going.
