Air Vents

O.K. dumb question here. The air valves that I recently had installed have a dial setting from 1 - 9. I was under the impression that this would serve as climate control for the radiator itself by controlling the steam flow let out. Is this correct? I have some radiators that become super hot whereas others are relatively cold in comparison. (I will check the pitch after reading this site)

    vent valves

    Do not control climate.

Adjustable port vent valves can lower the temperature in a room. But, it depends on the size of the radiator. For instance if you have a large radiator you can keep the radiator from getting the full measure of steam during a heating cycle.

When using a low air release setting you prevent the entire radiator from reaching the maximum heat output thereby you may be able to lower the room temperature a bit.

If you are looking to control the temperature in the room you may have some success with using a Danfoss RAV controler and a vertical vent valve.

The Rav unit is equipped with a non electric temperature controller.

When the temperature reaches the set point a needle valve seats in the valve seat and stops air release. When air release stops steam cannot enter the radiator.

If any sections in the radiator leak the Rav will not help you control the room temperature.

    Jacob,

Thanks and just so I am completely clear, the lower the setting the less steam / air I am letting into the radiator correct?

    Thanks again
