George Harrison Tribute...

Outstanding - musically and emotionally! Paul, Ringo, E.C., George's son, wife, that cool Indian dude, the Sitar... An all-star jam that actually sounded good for once!

This took place on the 1rst anniversary of his death, last November. I would have missed it, if someone on the radio hadn't casually mentioned it airing last night. Anyone know about when it might be aired again?

The music industry could use more of this vibe to get it out of the toilet!

From what I saw it was an outstanding concert! I don't see when it will be replayed, but you can get the DVD at places like pbs.org or amazon.com. It is titled "Concert for George".

Thanks for the links on this, Ross...

Evidentally this concert actually happened over a year ago, I thought it was more recent. I figured some people here would appreciate the discussion, given the taste for good music that evidentally goes hand-in-hand with this field!
  • I enjoyed it too

while in a hotel room in the Catskills last night. I especially have a liking for Eric Clapton. My 22 year old son is a guitarist and shares that liking with me. Looking forward to seeing it again too so I can record it.

Dylan did not make it to the Concert for George, but did do this tribute to him.....you will need RealPlayer to hear it....

    Something, New York City, 11/13/02 { RealAudio }
Dedicated to George Harrison "because we were such good buddies," this performance of "Something" was the final encore performed at Bob Dylan's second show at Madison Square Garden.

You won't see his like again

I haven't been impressed with ANYTHING!! in rock in the last 18 years - it all pales in comparison. Mad Dog

    Actually, I did see...

his "likeness" - his son Dhani.

Ravi Shankar's daughter was spared looking like her dad, fortunately. But she sure could play that wacky lookin' guitar!

    Jazz/country singer...

Norah Jones is sitar player Ravi Shankar's daughter by a Beatles groupie. Oddly enough, he didn't want anything to do with her until she won the Grammy last year for her album and the song "I don't know why".

    Is that the same daughter...

that played Sitar in the concert? I guess that old dude gets around - he's still got the mojo goin' on - was he working George's wife, or what?

    I didn't see the show.

but Norah Jones is VERY pretty and has a wonderful voice that can sing sultry and smokey on some jazz stuff and even some old country classics, or be cute & playful on some other tunes. She has medium length dark brown hair, maybe 5'5". The story I heard was that she was born to a Beatles groupie, as a result of an affair with Ravi Shankar, George Harrison and his wife weren't even mentioned. Check out her album "Come away with me"; her latest album has just been released, but I don't remember the name. You won't regret it.

    Thanks, Bill...

I'll ask my wife - she keeps up with the newer stuff, especially the female performers. I wouldn't be suprised if we already have that CD.

    RadioAOL

If you have AOL they have about 125 channels of non-commercial music. One of them is all Geo Harrison 24/7.

There was an error rendering this rich post.

I saw it on Channel 13 HD. The Channel 13HD has THE best picture so far of any of the HD channels. But, overall the HD programming is very limited, even though Cablevision is really pushing the digital service. The Soapranos will be broadcast in HD.
