favorite wall heat transfer plate?

Which product have you guys found works best for wall. Using at large picture windows. cement filled foam forms walls. Thanks for your help.

    Here is a thought

    Check into the ThermoFin U fins. Then drop them into a groove in the foam wall forms. The plates could be screwed to the tabs in the foarms of glued into the foam with the special foam friendly construction adhesive.

    A router would be a messy way to groove foam! Maybe a knife or a "hot wire" could provide the groove.

    For a large enough order Dale might run some 3/8" U fins.
    www.radiantengineering.com 1/2" are generally stocked. I have a small stash of 8 footers if it is a small area.

    Sounds like a nice way to get a radiant wall.

    I'd think about using the Stadler or Wisbro panel system. They would just srew right over it without the time consuming grooving job. The panels are more exspensive but should save big on your labor time. Another thing with cutting into the foam is that you'll be lowering the r-value at that point where the tube is which i would think is the worst place to cut it down as that's your hottest point.

    Yes, no, maybe Joel :)

    The block pictured is a Green Block brand. It has 2.5" of outside foam, 8" of concrete, then 2" on the inside. This should be R-23.3.

    Yes, the 1/2 cut would cost R-2.5. Still a healthy R wall structure compared to R-19 batts which are poor infiltration barriers, to boot.

    Actually the system you mentioned has the aluminum on the back side of the 1/2" plywood. So that adds the plywood R value between the actual wall covering and the transfer plate. It also has a much thinner transfer plate of aluminum. Thicker aluminum does transfer the heat to the edges of the fin assembly better. Or else we would all be using aluminum foil for transfer plates :)

    Probably works out to sixes in the end.

    Thanks for your help. Customer isn't heating entire wall so the panels are not practical anyways. He has similar if not the same forms. 2.5" foam - 6" cement - 2.5" foam...I thought he told me like R30 in wall with everything. Already has hot wire kit so he can make his own shape & it burns through like hot knife in butter. Checked out Web site and sounds like they hold the tube in tight. Sturdy heavy U plate that holds tube in is was I was hoping for. Thanks again!

    Those blocks are very cool if you've got the knife setup then time wouldn't be a factor. we did the foundation of my dads cottage with them. it was amazing how warm the basement was without anyheat in it compared to regular basements which here aren't insulated at all.
