hot water heater problem

Im working on a hot water heater with a circulation pump the house is 3800sqft ranch home one end of the house does not have hot water at the sinks or showers instantly what might be the problem ohter than air in the system

Air wouldn't have anything to do with your problem. Domestic water is an open loop system. You probably have a bad re-circ pump, or maybe a check vavle thats stuck open. sounds like you need to call pro. Use the 'find a professional' link to your left

Hello: In such a big house you may have a split recirc loop... basically two or more loops driven by one pump. If they are not balanced, you'll get most of the flow through one loop. A restriction where the recirc pipe comes back into the heater is another possibility. That connection tends to plug up from the action of the anode in the tank. Try running water under pressure through the various parts of the system. You'll either find very dirty water indicating poor pumped flow or just very little flow when flushing, telling you there is a restriction. Good luck!

First try a easy fix..On the return for the recirculation system there should be a aquastat .This control starts and stops the recirculation pump which charges the hot water lines . If the return pipe cools down it would turn on the pump , pulling hot water up the hot water supply and back to the heater. Try raising the control up a tad , maybe it's too low......
