have a strange problem with a w/mc cgi boiler with electronic ignition on occasion it will start up run 10 - 20 seconds then shut down im leaning toward thinking bad ground or dirty sensor any other ideas ???

    Does it go to main flame or just pilot. If it is just the pilot then you most likely have a dirty flame rod. However if it is your main flame I would tend to think you might be getting flame roll out causing the flame roll out switch to trip.

    Sounds like ground


    or some other voltage issue.

    This could be the most "fun" trouble shooting job you ever encountered!

    unit goes to main flame i am the 3rd co. to look at it 1st company changesd the hw electronic control then came back replaced the same control plus gas valve plus igniter,sensor 2nd co. loolked at it called me i went looked at it saw what it was doing moved the plate with the roolout switch on it unit ran ok put plate back sat for 1 hr watched it run no problems so may be a bad rool out switch will look at it again tomorrow

    Check voltage when under load

    I've seen this a few times on LGB's. When second gas valve opens voltage drops, killing the pilot. Someone put in too small of a transformer. Boiler had sooted up twice from short cycling and burned up all the controls on the front due to flmae roll out. I was contractor number 3 too (number two had just finished cleaning the boiler a few hours before i arrived).
