I understand this board has nothing to do with hot air systems .Does anybody know where I could get info about
where the main filter is located in my Amana air comand 80
sse furnace? I have changed 3 return filters in the hall way and ceiling,Is there a main one in the unit? thax.

You could try www.hvac-talk.com. If you have three returns with filters already installed in them, you probably don't have one in the unit. Too many filters may cause a restriction of return air to the furnace. Good luck.0 -
If that furnace has another filter and I hope not due to statis pressure issuse it would be in the blower compartment. Amana provides rails in there to mount the filter. assuming an upflow configeration. counter flows usually have two filters mounted in a vee shape over the blower compartment in the return air duct. It sounds like the installer used filter grilles at each return opening instead. I would advise you to stay away from the pleated type "electrostatic filters" I find the static pressure drop is way too high causing your furnace to work harder and consume more gas and electricity.0
