    tenants

Tenants, not homeowners. Landlord or equivalent has some rights of access even in the US.

    That reminds me

of the time we had to take a school teacher to court to prosecute him for non-payment on a clean & tune.

His defense? "I never called them your honor."

The judge: "Well then Mr. Yates. Are you in the habit of randomly chosing homes to break into for cleaning and tuning oil burners?" To the homeowner: "Was there any damage to a door or sign of forced entry?"

My response: "No." The owner: "No."

Judge's conclusion: Judgement 100% in favor of my company.

Then there was the homeowner and his family who didn't want to pay me for a bitter cold Sunday evening's heat restoration.

"He was never at our house your honor."

The judge then asked me for a description of the home and I included lots of details regarding the interior, the boiler, the people and what they were doing at the time - including the fact that the Mrs. had just returned home from the hospital and that junior was very surly towards his mother and father.

The judge asked them if my description was accurate. They replied it was. Judgement 100% in favor of my firm.

    People say the darndest things!
