Need help

Thanks for all the info about my efficiency questions. The house is a solid concrete structure with a bedford stone exterior. By clocking the meter we determined that the old 50yr. boiler is burning about 200,000 btu's. I ran a load on this single story 3200 sq.ft house and came to a conclusion that the area served only needs 110,000 btu's. The radiation in the house is 3/8" copper routed through the ceiling. My problem is since I don't the amount of tubing I can't justify my calculations. Also, the exisiting system is zoned using 3- B&G pumps. Do you think if I use zone valves and the taco pump supplied with the series 2 burnham boiler will suffice, or should I just go back with (1) new B&G pump. Appreciate all your info and time guys.

    Need more info

Are there any rating numbers on the boiler? Is the boiler in a basement and the copper tubing in the ceiling which is the floor of the home? The 3 circ pumps are all off a larger manifold by the boiler? And the copper supply pipes from there are all 3/8" ? Is this PEX tubing or copper imbedded in the concrete? Do you have 3 stats in the house? Any digital pictures we could see?

No on the pictures, yes on the 3/8 copper for piping not pex,all piping in ceiling not floor, the individual zones are supplied with 3/4 copper. No rating plate. All the copper is embedded in plaster. This is pretty common here in the bluegrass state

    2 things

#1)You clocked the meter and got 200K but that's input. You need to know your efficiency to get the output of the boiler. With a fifty year old boiler you might only be putting out 60% of the Btus you're consuming.
#2)Why do you need to know how much tubing there is to size the new boiler? You should size by the heat loss not the radiation unless it's steam.
