A change in the way folks shop radiant

I have had 4 homeowners come by the shop to talk radiant. I have 2 more scheduled next week.

Previous years it was mostly phone and fax bid-o-rama. I wonder that this forum and the RPA's have increased the awarness and importance of dealing face to face??

Also yesterday I recieved this offer from Radiantec, looking for "Installation Partners now that National Code Officials have approved several new types of radiant heating systems" Certainly with their 20 some million in sales yearly, they have a finger on the buying habits of the electronic age radiant shoppers.

Be interesting to see if shoppers will be willing to pay more for a one on one buying experience.

Up close and personal in SW Missouri. Have your machine leave my machine a message :)

    Vermonters

I recieved the same info pack . i'm sure I could pick up alot of biusness in that partnership but personaly i don't feel all warm and fuzzy about many of the claims some people make which I feel decieve the customer. Such as "less exspensive than baseboard" and several more like it.

    sounds like

they're following HD's lead. Probably the proverbial double-edged sword.

    I think

I think they are finding out that for 95% of the folks out there, radiant heat is NOT a do it yourself project.

    So where

does this leave radiantec and others like them, if they are looking for "partners" and using the connotation of "code officials", leads me to believe they forsee a problem with the 95% passing code requirements. I would like to think that this would influence homeowners to see the value in the one-on-one buying experinece, and would drive more of this business to the local economy, contractor, distributor, and the lowly mfg. rep.
