We remove alot of those old air eliminators and return traps, check valves. Replace them with a battery of Gorton Vents, install a vaporstat and keep the pressure real low. As Dan said, you ain't burnin' King Coal..no mo'. Mad Dog

  • More Broomell Questions.

I received my new copy of "Lost Art". Read through it, and studied the areas about Broomell.

I know how it works, But I need parts!

Who sells parts for these things?

The column with the copper ball is no longer in the basement. Bubba threw it out. The rest of the system is still there. I need to see a catalog page or something with a diagram or two so I can build one of these things.

Unless, of course they are available from a supplier somewhere.

Please help. The homeowner is counting on me. My Dad and I are the only people so far that have been able to help this customer stay partially warm this winter. I'd like to repair the system, as it worked for all this time, it should continue to outlive us all.

    Are you talking about

rebuilding the receiver? If so, that's no necessary, unless you're burning coal and using a damper.

    Dan is clearly correct here.....

the device you mention was actually used to control the damper on the coal fire......if you post pictures on this site, you'll get the help you need. The tough part is venting the system...once you do, the rest is straightforward.
