Solid Al baseboard

Does anyone have any experience with solid 5/8 X 5" aluminum baseboard? I'd like to use some in a system. I do not have a supplier for it either.

    It looks

sort of like 1x6 pine trim. You have to figure a bout 240 btu pr ft. Half of what you get with fin tube so you will need twice as much.

It is also 3x more expensive. You use 3/8" pex [ the old stuff was 12mm ] to hook it up. It works best with reset and constant circ to eliminate expansion and contraction noise.

The plus side is that it is mostly radiant and you cover almost all of your outside walls with nice warm heat and no drafts or convective current. Cuts down on drafts and wall streaking from the dust. If I have a chance I will try to harvest some pictures from my old computer

    Solid Al

    Thanks Bill,
I intend to use 3 way zoning and keep the water moving all the time. I'd like to cross some large areas that I can not conceal piping, and the client likes the idea of using the solid Al betweent the panel rads. Who makes it? If it can only be piped in 3/8 pex i'll probably have to skip it.

    Try this

Try this link, copy & paste http://www.aimradiantheating.com/

The company I bought mine from was on Long Island and I was told they sold out of the baseboard business. I think this is the same stuff.

Piping is pretty easy you supply and return on the same side and make a 180° return on the other side. The water enters the bottom and returns on the top. There are two pipes molded into the panel. I know what I want to say to describe it but 'am having trouble typing what I want to say
