Hybrid hydronic system

I have a central furnace blower in my basement. It looks a lot easier to heat a radiator with the hot-water with the blower attached, to heat the house through the forced air system, than to put in a radiant heat floor system. Would I notice that much difference from the radiant floor compared to a hot-water blower system. It will be heated from the heat exchanger in my wood furnace, and then through the storage tank. Mike

hot water coil in the duct
is my next project. I installed a boiler during my renovations to power the infloor radiant to the master bed room and staple-up to the sun room. These two rooms are very comfortable. The rest of the home is warmed with a heat pump and is drafty and most uncomfortable in comparison. I cannot justyfy trying to get radiant to the upstairs; so the next best thing is to do the hot water coil in the plenum to utilize the boiler to the fullest. I do not excpect the comfort level to rise from that of the heat pump. It will just be more economical to heat. Are you looking for comfort or something else?0 -
if you had a VS blower
it might feel better to keep the water temp down at 140-160 and slow the fan down. Less draft, longer run times will probably balance out the heat better then short blasts of super heated air.0 -
How about...
some panel rads on that second floor?
If you could snake a length of some 1/2" pex in a couple of places that would give you both comfort and a "not so difficult" installation.
Run those babies with TRV's and, from what I hear on the Wall, you're in heaven.
Just my thoughts, PJO0
