Finally back to steam

helping in the service department with the extreme amount of calls coming in , I think we finally caught up . This boiler was an emergency though . We had another company rip out the old boiler before we got there , an old 6 section beast . The 2nd picture is the return that was connected to the old boiler , it was clogged almost 3/4 of the way .

installed this Burnham V84 . Of course it was tight on the stairs , and a sheet of ice from the door to the street . From now on we carry a bag of ice melt on every truck .

The original main vent was installed on a bull headed tee , so we took it out and added another vent in a more convenient spot . I had over 3 feet distance from the water level to the vent tee , so it should work fine right there .

Just about every steam boiler has a low voltage thermostat , so we need the relay to control the burner .
  • Didn't even see that

clam steamer in the background . But I did catch a glimpse of a horrible sight .

Yep , the good ol' days , I used to go clamming in the Great South Bay with my boss and family . Nothing like clams smothered in butter with bacon . Thanks Matt .

    Ron,

Your getting spoiled by all these standup basements bud! Nice job. The drop header is a sweet thing to work with. I wish we had more steam work. I kind of miss it . Used to do 10-15 per year, now I'm lucky to see 1 every 2 years. Chris

  • Scott has the perfect place

up in Manchester-by-the-Sea, he also has a sail boat. We keep trying to get him to have a Wetstock at his house. I told him we can pitch tents in his front yard. Then we can take a tour of his boiler room. We need to get Chris (JCA) to harass him about it. We could really make it fun and go dig the clams first. Bring your clam rake.

    OR

We could all come to your house and take the steam system tour and have a clam bake we will bring the clams HMMMMM. Murph can bring the Rolling Rock from down in PA.
