Steam Boiler Water Level

I have been reading the steam heating primer and came across the following passage.

When the boiler is off, the "normal" water line is the center of the gauge glass. When the system is running, the "normal" water line is near the bottom of the gauge glass.

On my system the water line when running is more towards the top of the guage glass. Is there something wrong with my system?

    steam boiler water level

Not necessarily. If you have a tankless coil in the boiler, the water level will usually be a little higher to keep the coil submerged. If not, as long as the level stays in the glass, you should be OK. IF everything is working OK, Leave it alone. Smaller boilers have smaller "steam chests" (the room above the water line were the steam is made), and a high level can cause some noise or banging if the water is too high.
