Hydronic floor boxes

Does Slant Fin or anyone else still offer those " boxes with the element " that you would drop into the floor? I have a request for one but can't find them on Slant Fin site. Last I used them was many years ago in my helper days. I understand how H2O baseboard works with the convection current, whats the theory behind those boxes? Thanks.

Floor Convectors

I haven't seen them available thru suppliers lately. If you don't provide for cool air to enter the box the warm air just sits there and doesn't really convect. I've retrofitted a couple that didn't work with baffle and it did the job. Here's a sketch I made for a guy.

We just installed three or four on one job...

and the HO decided she wanted to paint the interior of the boxes flat black so you couldn't see into the box...

Also, if theres going to be hardwood flooring installed around the box, cut out a plywood lid and screw it firmly to the sub floor to keep the flooring guys from cutting their materials too close to the box to the point that the grate won't easily fit on finish.

Been there, didn't do that, wished to heck we had...

That first link didn't work to B/M. Theirs is probably the one with baffle I saw and got the idea for my retrofit baffle after someone installed a cheapie that just got hot INSIDE the box.
