Initial settings for L8124 Aquastat

I posted here awhile back and got great info on splitting out my boiler ignition from the triple aquastat. In the new configuration I have an L8124 aquastat and it seems liek the boiler is firing way too often. That said, the current settings are HI=180, LO=140, DIFF=15. What ar ethe recommended settings? Burnham Oil Burner for a furnace heating a decent size house heating 12 rooms on 2 floors, all one zone. If location makes a difference, I'm in the Philly area.

Thaks for help in the past and in advance regarind this thread!

    aquastat settings

Usually, we set the hi/low 20* apart with the diff. @ 20.
You didn't mention domestic but I assume you have a coil??
The settings depend on the system and the demands put on it by design temps. You said firing too often: Is the boiler undersized or borderline? This can cause repeated on/off cycling or if it's too big, it will have a shorter run cycle. Check the connected load and adjust accordingly.
We always set 20* spread with a coil, wider if a demand start and you're looking to protect the boiler from condensation or thermal shock. In that case, set the high at design and the low at manuf. recommended low setting.

    It is a domestic application.

I'm not sure if the boiler is undersized or borderline. It's a V-15A-T

How do I tell if it has a coil?

    Note: I'm just a homeowner....

generally what i have have done as a oilburner tech is set the high at 180 and the low at 160 and diff at 10, if you have a coil (which is were you get your demestic water from the boiler) and if you have a temp valve i would bump it up to high up to 190. there is a lot of varibles to concider. that aquastat will keep your boiler running all year round. witch is good for the boiler.
