LOCHINVAR -- burners

I have a customer with a Lochinvar CBN1435 comercial boiler.
The customer called yesterday with a pump coupling out. I replaced the coupling and on fire up was startled when the burners came on with quite a bang. Looking through the burner window I can see that some of the burners have split open. Is this a common problem? This boiler is only 3-4 years old and was factory started. Also I was out in november and looked at the heat exchanger via the same window while the burners were on to see if the heat exchanger was getting crusty. There is not much glowing then or now. Also how do you get these split open burners out if they are now expanded open. Does the front of the fire box come off?

Yes, the whole from plate comes off with burners on it. Yes, this is a fairly common occurence. The excuse from factory is you are suppose to perform a cleaning every 6 mos. I think it says it in the book. I have not been impressed with the longevity of these burner. Make sure combustion readings are good and that you recheck air pressure adjustments on blowers and gas pressure on valves. Good luck.
