Siggy Article

read an article by Siggy that discussed the problems of radiant floors done on sleepers and have air gaps between the floor and the slab. I just ran into a problem job that was done this way and would like to find this article. Does anyone remember the name of this article or know where I can find it. Thanks if you can help. WW

Thanks Guys
A friend up North from me is a Geothermal guy and they had him connect to a radiant floor manifold and loops in a slab installed by the GC. It is not warming and they are suggesting that it's his problem. However while asking him about the job he mentioned that the GC put the wood floor over 2 x 2 sleepers on top of the slab and left an 1 1/2 air space between the hardwood floor and the slab. Duuh! Siggy's article claims a 12% loss of capacity for a 16th of an in air gap. What's 12% x 24/16th of an inch. 180%( I know it doesn't work that way, but it ain't good) What a mess! I don't know what to do but tear up the hardwood floor and screed some gypcrete or concrete up to the level of the sleepers and then re-install the hardwood floor. Or add supplemental heat of another source. The water to water geo system can only provide 120 degree water though. Another fine mess. WW
