    Here is another view......gotta keep this post up near the top of the Wall!

    This cannery burned in 1956. The powerhouse guy supposedly flicked his cig after shutting off the generator for the last time that season...turned out to be forever. You could see the machine tools half buried in the sand under the dock where they fell. Big industry at one time.

    One fisherman thought he could make a fortune by taking these bricks back to Seattle and selling them off. The Superintendent said sure, go ahead, take 'em! Of course all us mechanics complained about losing our monument, but the boss laughed and said it was just "fisherman talk".
    This old boiler had to be the most photographed item on Prince of Wales island and I know of at least a couple artists who sketched it or even one who painted it inside of a huge Abalone shell. This company is closed now since they could not compete with the Farmed salmon threat amongst other things. Now and then you will see a bumper sticker out here in Seattle that says: Say no to : Don't eat farmed Salmon!
