A ThermoFin install (hr)

I have built to speed the process. These copper "starships" hold the spacing and act a alingment pins for the next row of plated. 1/2" copper is a nice snug fit in the fins. One on each end of 8 foot sections of fin makes for a straight, quick install.

I finally broke down an bought a palm nailer. This little sucker drives the tube into the groove faster than you can say Swiss Family Robinson.

Just don't be tempted to hold it between your legs as you reach for another fin. The slightest pressure on the tip sends the thing a hammering :) Yeah baby!

This install is 15 feet above a concrete floor. The rolling scaffold made for quick work. My partner Scott rolled me along as I "palm nailed the heck out of the PAP.

I took the Rems Curvo high today also. I was able to bend 1" copper in a drop ceiling area for feeds to remote manifold areas.

I bought a new super flexible, featherweight air hose on the way home today. I ruined two air hose connections working overhead with the nailer. I also added a swivel.

    bend

Hello Hot Rod, I have never seen a small hand held electric bender. It looks pretty slick, does it have interchangeable shoes for different sizes? Do you have to anneal the copper? Will it bend SS or carbon steel tubing? You come up with more cool gadgets. Thanks. bob

    MY Rems Curvo

gets used more than my sawzall or angle drill these days! I find a way to use it on every install.

It bend regular hard drawn copper. Type L works best, but I have used M on ocassions. It tends to pucker a bit on the inside radius with M.

Yes it will do all types of TUBING. I have even bent schedule 40 1/2 gas pipe. It growls a bit, however.

I use it to bend up scrap copper pieces for the shop. hanging ladders, bikes, ext. cords, pipe racks, etc.

It comes with attachments from 3/8" to 1-1/8" od. The factory custom built a 1-3/8" for me to try on 1-1/4" copper. Works fine.

It is available in a hand operated version, also.

I get tons of comments from the other trades when they see the tool and the nice bends it forms. Takes a lot of fittings and solder joints out of the job.

    bend

Hot Rod, Thanks for the reply. I have worn out a bunch of benders in my career, might know that after I retire they would come out with an electric one! I notice that it's made in Deutschland, do you know if they produce bending temper copper over there?

    ahhh...REMS

Such neat tools!! great application. I've set up a Baker scafolld to do staple up applications so all tools/plates/fasteners are rolling with the work. Makes it much easier than running up a ladder. Air hose looks intriguing. See you in Vegas for HCT??

    Been awhile

since my last ISH trip. I do recall seeing a bit of copper forming equipment, from various manufactures, in the Tool Hall. I never really paid attention to the type, or temper of the tube they used copper.

Personally I have never used bending grade copper. Is it like soft coil L or K only in straight lengths?

The Curvo does fine with regular copper, certainly is readily available :)

check out that Polyurethane braided air hose. I'm seeing lots of framing crew using it on nail guns, also.

6.35mm id and 14 bar rated for those that speak metric! (1/4" and 200psi WP) This is a FLEXEEL brand. Now all I need is titanium connectors :)

Sorry I won't make the Maurice "extreme makeover" Maio/ Wisrbo gig. Those Apple Valley-ites know how to throw a gala event!

I've been looking for that swivel

I have one like it on an old, old impact wrench. All I can find around here are the ball type. Not enough movement for overhead work. Got a brand or source? thanks
