Are there devices to sense the presence of Radon other than the advertised test kits that you send off for analysis?

    Was going to say that you'd probably need a mass spectrometer or some such exotic and expensive thing.

    Can't vouch for accuracy, suitability, safety, or any such things of course...

    Looks interesting...I'll try one and see how it works. I'm wondering if this concern for Radon in houses is legit'

    I know the "specialists" that exhaust it from the house certainly make some bucks at $2000 to $5000 per job. I've seen some really strange looking installations and have always wondered if the HO was ripped off or not.

    Test kit

    The county health dept. should have access to test kits, radon is a huge problem in some areas, hard rock granite the worst I think. Most states have maps of radon problem areas. It can be very local.A radon vent stack collecting from under the basement floor is really cheap to put in in new homes and as an added benefit seems to disperse moisture.
