White smoke

OK, all the reading here lately has left me with a few questions. My oil-fired non-condensing boiler with 2 zones of baseboard heat was, until recently, emitting a small plume of white smoke from the flue when firing. There was a small concussive noise and then the smoke. Now, my service man replaced the ignition relay on top of the Beckett motor and the smoke has essentially stopped. As I am VERY close to adding a radiant floor for the kitchen, I am left to wonder: are there problems inside the unit? Has it been condensing? I have never measured the temp of the return water, but I have been planning a P/S loop to properly feed the 2 zones of baseboard and the new zone of radiant. HR did provide a sketch, but should I look into anything else before proceeding?
