Thermostat

ALL our T8600 series programmables have that feature. The installer sets the range stops, and once they are reached no amount of button-pushing will change them. However, an authorized person can make any changes in seconds.

thermostat
Does anyone make a remote thermostat where the sensor is not hard wired but battery operated the temp is trasnsmitted through RF. This would be for an apt bldg.
Or who makes a good wired one if RF doesnt exist0 -
sure
Sure, I've seen web pages for wireless thermostats. Just search the web.0 -
Honeywell makes one...
Try the T8665A1002/W8665A1009 system. Available from your heating pro, no retail equivalent. It has all the features of a regular 7-day programmable stat, but is wireless. The W8665 mounts in the mechanical space, range is 200 feet. For more info, go to www.honeywell.com/yourhome/0 -
Bill@HW, does it have lockout? multiple devices?
I wish I'd have known about the RF stat a month ago when I finally replaced my T87 with a programmable. But I didn't go with Honeywell because I couldn't find one with a lockout feature to keep my tenants from tampering with it. Any reason Honeywell chooses not to put lockout in even their contractor models? Even the cheaper retail models from Temprite and others have this feature. I got a nice White Rodgers that I'm happy with except the anticipator setting doesn't make sense and I don't know what it's doing.
I'm using some RF switches in my house for lighting, I wonder if this would cause a problem with the HW RF stat?0 -
Bill @ Honywell When you say range stops you do mean a set temperature , right?
I have a Honywell round now, on a steam system apt bldg. The anticipator on the thermostat in the controll apt which is in the middle of the bdg has a swing of .25 degrees f and the end apts swing 2 degrees. this is fine for me . Does your digital remote offer this narrow an adustment.
Aso ive heard of multiple apt averaging thermostats so if one tennant is cooking all day the rest of the bldg doesnt freeze, which happens to me once in a while0 -
Wow! I would be very interested in a t-stat that considers several senders for apt. buildings. I have several buildings with that problem. I was having an real problem with cold apts. until I figured out that the sensing apt tenant was running a space heater! right under the sensor. These are the people that the dinasaours should have eaten.

Remote
Robertshaw makes some excellent units0 -
The PC8900...
can accept up to 9 remote temperature sensors, and averages their input with the main unit. They require hard wiring to the W8900 control unit in the mechanical room. The PC8900 is not a true "zoning" system, however. You can use individual thermostatic radiator valves or our Enviracom forced air zoning system for true individual control. Yet another alternative is to use a reset system, "cruise control for your building", where the outside air temp controls the water temp delivered to the system, TRV's and reset will require some piping modifications. I hope this helps.0
