LWCO & Oil fired HWH
In Maine, the code now states that ALL installed boilers shall have a LWCO installed. Now think about this. An oil fired hot water heater with no pressure guage and no LWCO. I went to a call last winter to clean the HAF & the HWH. The home owner is away, as this is his "summer camp" (palace on the water) The H2O pump has been shut off and the domestic plumbing has been drained, including the HWH. Just by my bubbly personality the caretaker desided to kill so time and come in with me. After I finished with the Thermopride, I started on the oil fired HWH. In conversation it came up that everything had been drained. WOW!!!, Man I would have fired it. Wouldn't have Known. signed Dumb Sootmonkey0 -

lwco & water heater
It's been law in Maine since 1973 that all boilers have LWCOs. Not required on water heaters. Guess it shows one has to be very careful to check for flow before firing them.
Thanks for reminding us not to take everything for granted.
