I ate lunch with them at Wirsbo mini camp. They are very nice people. Tell them Wayco Wayne remembers them and welcomes them into the US citizenship. WW

New job
We just wrapped this one up today. We installed the boiler, piping, tank, and zone panel several weeks ago. We went back today to install the pool heater. That's two of my installers, Slavko and Big Papa, standing in front of their work. -DF

Pool Heater
This is a Flat Plate pool heater we installed to heat a small pool. This one is rated at 200k BTU/hr. Jeff Riley from Thos. Somerville Company hooked me up with this panel. -DF

Does Flat Plate
make the panel or just the heat exchanger. Looks good. WW

Flate Plate
Hi Wayne,
The entire panel is a Flat Plate product but it is manufactured for them by Danfoss. -DF

Flow switch??
Dan.I can't tell by looking at the picture if there is or isn't one (flow switch on pool side)) If not, let me suggest you put one in. Otherwise the PVC CAN and WILL turn into spaghetti if the pool pump stops for any reason. You don't want to know how I know this...
Looks good. Are your installers Germanic or Russian? They look Slavic:-) Old world craftsmanship!

Flow switch
Hi Mark,
There is a Taco paddle-style flow switch on the main pool loop. The small pump and 1" pipe you are looking at acts as an injection loop into the primary pool loop. That way the entire pool flow does not go through the heat exchanger.
Slavko is Croatian, Big Papa is from Bosnia. They came here in 1997 as their country was being destroyed by war. The had the clothes on their backs, no money and could not speak a lick of English. They learn quickly and are my top two installers. -DF
PS They are both off today as they are being sworn in as US citizens.

Slavko and Big Papa
do great work . And they only started in the business in 97 ? Did they do this kind of work back in Europe ? Congratulations to the new US citizens , we need more skilled installers like them .
By the way , how did you meet up with them originally ?0 -

Dan,
So, what's under the lid? What are you using for mixing? As always, your guys have done top notch work. Is that a 44 or a 60?

Now That's What I Call European Hydronics at it's finest.
Dan,
This is exactly what I would expect to see from a Vito-job done by you guys.
Beautifully executed. That heat exchanges should be bathing in a sea of condensation:-)
After attending Viessmann acadamy yesterday, I'm convinced that the wall full of pipes, pumps and controls method I've been using is not as efficient as the "whole system aproach." You seem to follow this same mentality.
I'm looking at doing my first couple of Vitodens installations soon.
Thanks for showing us how it's suppose to be done.
Gary

Congrats to Papa & Slavko
Having seen many of their jobs. Papa & Slavko are not just VERY competent but they are the hardest workers I have ever run into.
All they ask for is the material so they can get to work immediately. Lunch break is maybe 10 minutes, they eat like they work, quickly. These guys are real professionals and VERY good people.
I am excited to hear about the citizenship and proud to call them friends.

Panel install
Dan, great install. The Viessmann looks great next to the heating panel. Did you build the distribution panel or is it a pre-manufactered product?

Viessmann
Hello everyone,
I just got back from the RPA meeting in Vegas. Thank you for all of the nice comments. I will try to answer your questions: Papa and Slavko are great workers and great people. They learned this trade after they arrived here. The boiler is a Vitodens 60. The panel is made by HPS controls out of Canada. I got it from Mike Bleier at Able Distributors, Chicago. There is no mixing device. The HPS panel feeds four air handlers. We left space off of the low loss header for a three-way motorized valve for a future radiant zone. -DF
