Pumping Away piping configuration

I was looking to re-pipe my hydronic system using the pumping away methods, to address problems with air in the system. I have 3 zones, with a circulator for each zone. Laying out the piping in a straight line (includes 18" pipe to air scoop, and manifold for 3 zones/pumps)-- it takes up 4 linear feet of space, but I'm short on room and am concerned with having more than the minimum fittings/ pipe lengths needed. I was considering putting in two 90s in the 1 1/4" pipe just downstream of the air scoop, to reverse pipe direction so that the manifold is above the air scoop.(1 1/4" reduces to 1", then to 3/4" for 8gpm/4gpm/4pgm zones).
Are there any concerns with this approach, or a minimum pipe length I might need between air scoop & elbows, or should the 90s be put in after the first zone pump?
Thanks

    Consider using

a different sort of air separator, one that doesn't need the long approach piping. For example:

    Spirovent

    Bell & Gossett EAS

    Taco VorTech
    Retired and loving it.
