Nozzles Keep Clogging???

New Peerless wbv 4, Rebuilt Riello F5(new pump, blast tube, control box). Ever 2-4 weeks my nozzle keeps clogging and I have to call for service to get it changed. WHY? Nozzle size is 1.25. I know its clogged as the reset switch on the burner needs to be reset and I getting puff clouds by the gasket on the burner.

My oil line is original and my tank is too but with my old boiler thats been in the house the nozzle never needed changing.

WHAT DO I TELL THE SERVICE GUY TODAY WHEN HE COMES IN? I would like to find the root cause to put it to bed so I dont have to wait around for 4 hours to get someone to spend 10 minutes to change a nozzle and leave which I can probably do myself.

    Sounds like

acompromised filter to me ? I am not oil trained but I do know enough to figure out that if the filter was miss-installed, or bad media your nozzel would get the brunt of the dirt. Just-a-thought

    clogged nozzle

have the oil company replace the oil line and install a garber filter

    Is

the strainer being cleaned or replaced and the oil line flushed? Is the nozzle line being flushed? Electrode and turbulator settings should be checked and set to specs

    Nozzles

A few other things should be addressed: First, if it is the nozzle that actually is clogging, you must look up-stream in the oil flow. If the pump strainer or fuel filter are contaminated, they will continue to feed that mess to the nozzle.
A weak spark, or poorly adjusted spark electrodes could also be the culprit.
Another possibility is if there is a blockage within the booiler or flue passages and there is excessive heat sitting back on the nozzle and varnishing up the oil, which would also clog the nozzle.

    Don't blame nozzle

If the nozzle is clogging the oil filters being used are not very good. I recommend the white, paperlike filter or the canister filters like Garber. Only a combustion analysis (especially Carbon Monoxide reading)Start-run-Shutdown can identify the problem immediately. Everything else is a guess.
