I have a one pipe steam system with a American Standard ArcoLiner. Since the burner was serviced this season, it gets to temp. and builds steam quicker, however, it now experiences water hammer especially toward the end of the heat cycle. Burner will run as long as stat. calls for heat. Pressuretrol is a Honeywell model P404A1 and set for 2.5 cut in with a 1.5 differential. I reduced the cut in to 1.5 and now the burner cycles albeit short. Also, when firing, the water level drops quite a bit so I guess the returns which are off the mains are sluggish. I'm trying to nurse this system until spring, so can anyone make any suggestions as to Pressuretrol settings, cleaning, etc. Thanks.
