Recently had a no heat call bad stack switch shorted wires, and much to my amazement this 100 year old boiler converted to oil had the original drop header .The thing that amazed me was the riser off the boiler where in the middle of the header and the mains where on the left and right with one side dropped for a equilizer. Some one had re piped part of the return and piped in a hartford loop sometime in the 90's.It was a thing of beauty drop header that was installed in like 1902 when the home was built sad to say no camera with me i'll post it if i get the picture.Has anyone seen a drop header on a old residental systems i,ve seen them on large commerical systems but never a old coal to oil conversion .Got it running and advised the ho to call for a appoinment to re wire her and switch it to a cad cell relay hardly any maintance and she steam quitely peace
