Do you really know

your overhead runs you. Not bad mouthing anybody, but really intriged by my wethead buddies and pricing. We have many fly bi-nighters in my area that price jobs by tonnage and do the 15mph drive by load calculation. I have in the past, but learned many times, matching a competors price is not a good idea. That ever job is different. Every piece of equipment is different. I recently priced out a boiler for a homeowner; they called me a crook. Two weeks later the wife called me up and asked if I could fit it into my schedule to come finish up their boiler job. The other guy could not get the boiler to run right. I came out and told her what it would cost and demanded 80% upfront, which they paid and were glad to pay. Now I am no boiler expert, but got some real smart freinds like Mike Craft(cheeshead ), Dan The Man and his books, Murhp and some other buddies I can call. Back to pricing, it is really hard for me to believe that so many people give prices by boiler size or furnace or heatpumps with out doing a complete detail cost of that job. Now overhead is different than direct labor cost per job. Overhead is the light bill, insurance, paper clips, postage, legal fees, accounting fees, office girls, rent, gas, elec, wear and tear on the trucks and so on; even down to the toliet paper some of the guys walk off with.
The dog food for the shop dog is even included in the overhead lmao. Oh well that is more than I have said all year. From cudzo hollow

Peace Be With You
