boiler psi drop

i have a job with 2 zones .each has a series 100 circ. on it. when zone 2 calls (2nd floor) the boiler psi drops to approx. 5psi. the prv then feeds to 12 psi.when the zone satisfies the boiler psi is now above 12psi. this happens with each cycle until the relief blows. I'm assuming this happens with zone 1 as well. The system has a steel expansion tank on it. has anyone ran across this before.
any help would be appreciated
thanks,
jay

Sounds like the feed is
connected on the inlet side of the pump and the expansion tank is connected on the discharge side of the pump. Connect the feed at the same point as the expansion tank, preferably on the inlet side of the pump.0 -
Pump away with water feed @ point of no pressure change. and read Dan's book "pumping away"0
