bOILER NOT LIGHTING OFF

I posted a week ago, and checked every idea. The boiler lights off without a hitch if I jump out the relay. Other then that it won't come on when needed. I checked gas pressure-- fine. Voltage-- fine draft-- fine. pilot-- fine low water cut-off-- fine. All sensors are have been checked and double checked-- fine. Transformer (in-120v out 24v)--fine stat-- fine. continuity from boiler to stat-- fine.
Water level- fine gas valve seems to be fine also.

What else could it be, other then the relay? How can I function test the relay for proper operation?

Peerless boiler-- residential home
hydronic system with pump
natural gas only

What kind of relay is it?If it works when you jump it out,it means it's not getting voltage from where it's supposed to be getting voltage from.

  • What are you jumping

on the relay to get it to run? Which terminals and what is the model of the relay?

The only info on the actual relay is 13163omzhs. I jumped it out by putting a rubber washer under the magnet forcing the contacts closed.
  • Okay

That is bypassing the coil and transformer in the relay. Did you try jumping the two terminals that the thermostat or zone relays are wired to? That will tell you if you have a bad relay or some other problem related to system wiring.

Don't leave it that way for long....AND ABSOLUTLEY

Do NOT walk away from the boiler with it in that condition.

If you do, you have a runaway boiler, and thats NOT a good thing.

    You're messing with dynamite...

  • Ron I did not see your

previous post so I have some questions:

Does the relay have a "TT" set of terminals or they may be "T" and "TV" it depends on the relay.?

If so what is wired to those terminals?

What you are doing is simply making the relay contacts to bring on the circulator and gas valve.

The problem seems to be what is supposed to bring in the relay. If you have a multimeter, do you have 24 volts at "TT"? If you do and you take a piece of wire and jump across "TT" does the equipment come on? If it does then the problem is external of the relay.

    Thermostat

    Zone Valve

    Vent Damper

    or possibly a broken wire.

But if you can make that relay operate by jumping out "TT" then the relay is not the problem.

I jumped it out so he could have some heat in his house. I told him what will happen if it is left running. I will try everyones ideas and get back to you
