White substance accumulation on float vents of heating system

Customer has a 3 yr. old radiant in-floor heating system with an indirect water heater. Has a significant amount of white substance accumulating on the various float type air vents in the system. The cold water supply to the heating system comes from the house main water supply that has a water softner system. Could the white substance be caused from the "salts" that are in the water softner system.
If this is the case should the heating system cold water supply be attached to the water system before the water softner, and if so does the heating system need flushed or is there some type of additive to put in the heating system
to neutralize the existing water in the heating system?

Water is never pure whether it is from a well or municipal and depending on the source, and location of the source certain minerals are prevelant. In a hot water system you are basically boiling or causing a chemical reaction to the water which converts tainted water in all forms to a different state the byproduct is in either a gaseous or mineral form. The gas form is air in the system, or mineral deposits at leaks, OR automatic vents.
