Real arctic blast hits

Temps went to -58 below last night. Had been -52 the night before, and -45 the night before that. Daytime highs have been about -35. Real heat wave. To say we've been busy would be an understatement. 5:00 am call this morning. Got there to find garage door open since about midnight of night before. Not pretty. Will post a few pics tomorrow off the digital camera. With apologies to Robert Duvall from "Apocolypse Now", "I love the smell of ice fog in the morning...it smells like...money"!
Warm regards from chilly Fairbanks,
Rocky

    Wow!

We thought we had it bad in western New York earlier this week when we got to -5 degrees! -58 is hard to comprehend!
Better double up on the parkas.

    Thinkin' warm thoughts,(beer)

There was an error rendering this rich post.

    But it's a dry cold

Yeah, right! By comparison, it was only a balmy -53 here in Glennallen. Heard that Tok had -65 yesterday - had to cancel the high school basketball team's trip to Glennallen.
We got most of the problem areas taken care of during the Christmas cold spell and have been taking it pretty easy lately. Cheer up - the days are getting longer - over 5 minutes gain per day.

    Friday.....

Went up to a whoppping 16° around here. A 24° degree difference from the morning temp. .

I thought it was nasty here in eastern Ma. , but I give in to my Alaskan brothers.Wish I had the patience to deal with that every day. (I can barely put up with the stupidity of good customers at these temps, . don't know if I could get less laughs at what your seeing).

Fortunately, our temps will head for the sky in a couple of days.I know yours won't hit the positive numbers for a month or so, so keep us 48'ers informed.

The press talks of "Global Warming", but after the last 2 weeks, I ain't buying it! Looks like we'll be busy all Summer from the Arctic Blast from last week. Chris

A local bumper sticker says; "Alaskans FOR global warming".

In down in what is called the banana belt of Alaska (Homer), been staying around zero, but the chill factor off the ocean makes you think its a lot colder. Can drop 20 deg. or more fairly fast just a few miles inland and a little higher elevation.

After the last few mild winters this one has caught the new-comers (and the non-designed systems) off guard.

I'm all hot and bothered now down here Jack!

It's been high 20's low 30's and its supposed to warm up and rain some more.

Every time I decide to buy property out Chena Hot Springs Road the weather up there has to go and do that!

Seriously though, email me if you would, I've got a couple burner questions you might be able to answer. Thanks.
