Electric Ignition Systems Seminar

How many would be interested in attending a seminar in the Harrisbuurg PA area. I have a possible sponsor who is interested but wants to get some idea of numbers. It would be sometime in April (after Wetstock IV).

Would any of you from that area be interested? Let me know by e-mail or here on the Wall.

The seminar would cover Electric Ignition Systems. That includes Intermittent Pilot, Direct Spark Ignition, and Hot Surface Ignition. If we get a good turnout we will come back later and do an Advanced Elecric Igntion Systems.

Timmie, If you end up finding this is a go. Please let me know the details and I'll spread the word at my local naohsm chapter. I'll also talk to a few companies in the area that would benefit from your knowledge.

    Questions..

Tim, sounds like something we would be interested in.
Keep us posted. In the meantime, could you please tell me if there is any maintenance required for the HW S8600 series intermittent spark to pilot. The one with the large style hood that looks like a fork and acts as a flame sense probe? Do these pilot assemblies need to be cleaned periodically to ensure proper flame sensing? My Burnham 203 uses this IID and I was wondering. Also, on the multistage electronic thermstat do I have the need or capability to adjust the anticipator for baseboard heat.
I think it is a T8624 and I have W1 calling for circulator only and W2 will make T-T through a fan center relay for my own "two-stage" heat. I was wondering if the stat will compensate internally with electronics or should I re-configure the program. Thank you. BTW- the smart valve manual is a great help. Best regards...

should have the pilot pulled every so often and clean the rod and brush the pilot itself. If you have a tune up done every year (you really should) have the pilot pulled and the orifice cleaned and at that time polish up the metal on the pilot with a piece of emory cloth. While you are at it make sure they do a combustion test and test for Carbon Monoxide on all your fuel burning equipment.

The programmable thermostat does not typically have an anticipator so it does not have to be set. Some of them have a cycle setting feature on them. If you are satisfied with your program then leave it alone. Does your system maintain any kind of temperature? I assume that if you are bringing the circulator on with the W1 call you are relying on the residual heat in the boiler to cover your "First Stage" demand????
